Spent $3,500 on Xiaomi Smart Home Products ！Now I Regret It！

Recently, I spent nearly 25,000 RMB (about $3,500) on Xiaomi products while decorating my home. Some of them are great, while others turned out to be disappointing. In this video, I’ll share which Xiaomi products are worth buying and which ones you might want to avoid.

Before we start, let me clarify that this video is completely ad-free. I intentionally waited until after the 618 sales event to release it, to avoid any impression that it’s an advertisement.

1. Xiaomi Standing Air Conditioner: Worth It or a Pitfall?

First, let’s talk about a product I consider a bit of a pitfall: the Xiaomi standing air conditioner. I bought it for 4,879 RMB (about $680), but now it’s listed at 4,599 RMB (about $640) on the official website.

Although this air conditioner cools effectively enough for our 120-square-meter (about 1,292-square-foot) studio, the installation experience was extremely poor.

Here’s the situation:

1. First Attempt: The first installer tried to drill a hole but his drill broke halfway through.
2. Second Attempt: The second installer also encountered drill issues and left without completing the work.
3. Third Attempt: The third installer finally made the hole but ended up creating a large hole in the interior wall. He used putty to cover it up, which looked terrible.
4. Fourth Attempt: I had to hire a separate repair person to fix the wall, costing an additional 300 RMB (about $42). The total installation cost, including repair, was 600 RMB (about $85).

The overall experience was terrible. I’m not sure if it was just my bad luck or if this is the general standard for Xiaomi air conditioner installation in Hangzhou. Given this experience, I might avoid Xiaomi air conditioners in the future. I give this product a 2-star rating.

2. Xiaomi Smart Clothes Dryer Pro

Next up is the Xiaomi Smart Clothes Dryer Pro, which I purchased for 1,075 RMB (about $150). This price includes a clothes dryer and a small lamp, but the lamp only has a 20-watt power, which is very dim. I had to add a YLIGHT magnetic track light to improve the illumination.

Pros:

• Large Size: Suitable for drying large items like quilts and bed sheets.
• Magnetic Controller: Can be magnetically attached to the wall or removed for use. It also has a simple push-to-lift feature.

Cons:

• Material Quality: Made of plastic, which feels cheap. The sliding design is cumbersome, making one-handed operation difficult.
• Wi-Fi Connectivity: Poor Wi-Fi connection, often disconnecting, which affects usability.

Overall, while the dryer has some functional advantages, its material quality and connectivity issues are significant drawbacks. I give it a 2.5-star rating.

3. Xiaomi Air Purifiers: Balanced and Reliable

Moving on to two products that perform well: the Xiaomi Full Effect Air Purifier and the Xiaomi Air Purifier Ultra. I bought the Full Effect model for 3,199 RMB (about $450) and the Ultra model for 3,949 RMB (about $550).

Pros:

• Strong Performance: Both models offer excellent performance in removing formaldehyde and particulate matter, with CADR values in the upper range for their price bracket.
• Value for Money: Despite the Ultra model being slightly more expensive, it still offers good value compared to flagship brands like Blueair or Honeywell.

Cons:

• Filter Costs: The composite filter for the Full Effect model costs 835 RMB (about $115), and for the Ultra model, it’s 1,300-1,500 RMB (about $180-210).

Overall, both air purifiers are well-balanced in terms of price and performance. For those in the Xiaomi ecosystem, these are good choices. However, if you’re not in the Xiaomi ecosystem, there might be better alternatives. I give these products a 3.5-star rating.

4. Xiaomi TV A Pro 75-Inch

The Xiaomi TV A Pro 75-inch is another product I find worth mentioning. The current price is around 2,000 RMB (about $280). It offers good performance in terms of smoothness and picture quality. However, it seems to have been discontinued on official channels and is now only available through secondary markets.

Pros:

• Great Specifications: 75-inch screen, 120Hz refresh rate, 4K resolution, all at a competitive price.

Cons:

• Limited Availability: Discontinued on official channels, available only through other sources.

Overall, this TV offers good value and performance. I give it a 3.5-star rating.

5. Recommended Xiaomi Products

Xiaomi Smart Lock:

1. E Model: Priced around 1,700 RMB (about $235), this is Xiaomi’s most affordable smart lock. It has basic functions like password and fingerprint unlocking but lacks Wi-Fi connectivity for remote operations. Despite this, the quality is quite good.
2. M20 Pro Model: Priced over 2,000 RMB (about $280), this model offers more features including facial recognition, NFC unlocking, and fingerprint recognition. The 3D facial recognition is particularly impressive and provides a smooth unlocking experience.

Pros:

• Feature-Rich: M20 Pro offers multiple unlocking methods and smooth operation.
• Good Quality: Both locks are well-made, with the M20 Pro being especially outstanding.

Cons:

• Price: The M20 Pro is somewhat expensive.

I rate the E model 4 stars and the M20 Pro 4.5 stars, considering its higher price.

Xiaomi Smart Ceiling Lights: I bought six Xiaomi smart ceiling lights, including one large living room version and five smaller bedroom versions.

Pros:

• Brightness and Color Rendering: The lights are bright, with good color rendering and multiple modes available. The smart functionality and Wi-Fi connectivity are also stable.

Cons:

• Value for Money: Buying lights individually is costly. It’s better to purchase as a set for better value.

I rate these lights 4.5 stars.

Additional Recommendations

Xiaomi Instant Hot Water Dispenser S1 and Microwave: Both of these products are very useful. The hot water dispenser can make tea, milk, and boil noodles, while the microwave allows for easy adjustment of settings through a smartphone app.

Pros:

• Versatile: Both products are highly functional and offer good value for money.

Cons:

• Price: They are currently available at significant discounts.

Additionally, I bought the Xiaomi Air Fryer and Pressure Cooker, though I haven’t used them yet. They are visually appealing and fit my home decor style.

Routers:

• Xiaomi AX6000 and Xiaomi 10G Router: These routers perform well and are worth considering.
